一首被很多知名樂人(包括Sarah Brightman )翻唱過的經典英文老歌歌曲《Scarborough Fair>> 斯卡布羅集市:

您去過斯卡布羅集市嗎？

歌詞剖析：

　　聽歌重在聽“歌眼”，正如文章中標識題旨的“文眼”。這一首SCARBOROUGH FAIR是大家再熟悉不過的經典老歌了；歌眼就是PARSLEY ,SAGE ,ROSEMARY AND THYME“蕪荽,鼠尾草,迷迭香和百裏香”，歌者在SAGE與THYME上有意延長似乎是在提醒我們注意：SAGE既指鼠尾草，同時又有“賢明/聖哲”之意；而THYME則與TIME諧音。讓我們再度回頭審視歌名（注意：歌詞與襯詞中都及可能潛藏著歌眼），原本熟悉的歌名似乎也變了麵目：SCAR-BORROW-FAIR。SCAR與FAIR昭示了歌者的本意——戰爭與和平（ANTI-WAR)。

　　歌曲以一位在戰火中亡故的普通士兵的口吻唱出，他再也不能回到那朝思暮想的家鄉，再也不能與心上人一同享受生活的甘甜了。心中的悲憤化作一聲聲催人淚下的控訴：PARSLEY,SAGE,ROSEMARY&THYME。成千上萬普通士兵如野花一般被戰火摧毀在沙場上，那些戰爭的作俑者最終難逃時間的淘洗。野花自在芳香；然而，唯有時間才能檢驗出誰是真正的賢明聖哲；或許，亙古永恒的時間才是真正的聖哲！TIME IS FAIR。

　　歌曲作於六十年代末，是奧斯卡獎影片《畢業生》（THE GRADUTE，1967）的插曲之一，聯係當時的時代背景（越南戰爭），不難領會歌曲的內涵。歌作者保羅.西蒙是六、七十年代青年的代言人。他曾在英國修習英國文學，文學底蘊深厚，因而其歌詞文字意境深邃。本歌歌詞改編自一首十七世紀英格蘭民謠。在演唱上西蒙和加豐科的配合可謂天衣無縫。在萬籟寂靜的深夜裏，讓歌聲流入你的心田，TOUCH THE DEEP OF YOUR HEART！
