Also released on DVD, featuring the complete concert, supplemented by ballet highlights and the traditional intermission feature. Review: There is only one problem with the Vienna Philharmonic. You have to fly to Vienna and get a ticket to their concert to hear the glorious sounds of this orchestra. For some reasons, they make very few recordings of purely instrumental music. But fortunately they record an annual New Year's Concert, which we can all enjoy in our own living rooms without having to travel overseas. Georges Pretre may not be as dynamic as he was in his prime, but he works well with the orchestra and his selections of music are very interesting. And the price for two excellent classical music CD's on Amazon is very attractive.
