Hi Passerby, glad to catch you up here! almost missed you…

As I first listened, I thought, wait a minute, this is not GG’s voice。Then as I kept reading I realized it was overdubbed. I think the overdubbing was trying to imitate GG’s accent. Sometimes it did sound like him. :-)

It is a great video, within 9 minutes, it contains such an abundance information.

Never before did I see him gushing out such heartful adoration towards his fellow pianists. I liked the way he described Richter “… insert between the listener and the composer his own enormously powerful personality as a kind of conduit…” Great words!

I also like what Richter said “I don’t play for an audience but for myself. If I enjoy myself, the audience will also enjoy it”. That is so true!

GG mentioned there are two categories of performers, I am wondering who else he would put into the second category as well? As for himself, I think he belongs to the second category.

I am especially interested in the two things that GG said he needed to confess in this clip:

(1) He admitted that he is not addicted to Schubert’s music. But after listening to Richter’s play, I am wondering if he changed his mind.
(2) I don’t know what that would be, I didn’t find it in this video...
