Furtwangler 在42年 Berlin， 拒絕同 Hitler 握手，

但那次的演奏真的是不同凡響。他留在德國，但我並不覺得他是納粹。他是個純粹的藝術家，無以倫比的藝術家。就像柏林愛樂的一位提琴手說過，Furtwangler是個 Kuenstler （藝術家）， 而 Karajan 是個 Verkaufsmann (商人)。卡拉揚是上著杆子加入納粹的，而 Furtwangler 在戰後受的壓力與譴責卻大得多，好在這些年糾正過來了。

盡管都是 Mono 的錄音，但是真喜歡 Furtwangler 指揮的貝多芬，瓦格納。
