I am not sure I agree with your assessment about "必經之路 ...新的東西" even though I do not study music and songs.

I do not know if there is any trend that indicates that soft rock has to move to hard rock and pop has to shift to rock. They are at least still co-existing for now, and to my understanding, soft rock and popular songs probably will survive better than hard rock. Just listen to most popular radio stations, you will find out that soft rock and popular songs have a a lot more audians than hard rock. Actually the most popular local radio station I like often stated something like "our station do not play hard rocks and raps, hip-pops".

Hard rock, to me, is like destroying your nerve and hearing, not music/song at all.
