出生於挪威奧斯陸的Kate Havnevik，在倫敦接受的音樂熏陶，她把音樂生涯的開端很格式化地以單純成為一名爵士和古典的吉他演奏手為目標，但這一係列計劃在她14歲時加入一支朋克樂隊後發生了轉變。從那時開始Kate Havnevik就確立了寬廣氣息唱法的個人風格，這種風格大家最熟悉的非Bjork和Kate Moss莫屬。Kate Havnevik的音樂配器以吉他、鋼琴和口風琴(一種小型管樂器,類似口琴, 但有鋼琴一樣的鍵盤)為主。她的一首Demo由於在洛杉磯知名電台KCRW-FM的王牌節目Morning Becomes Eclectic中的熱播讓她一下子在當地擁有了諸多歌迷，06年Kate Havnevik更是和Moby, Royksopp和Tom Middleton等諸多電子藝人展開密切合作。
