Suzanne Vega (born Suzanne Nadine Vega, 11 July 1959, Santa Monica, California) is an American songwriter and singer known for her highly literate lyrics and eclectic folk-inspired music. Beauty & Crime is the seventh studio album release by New York-based singer/songwriter and musician Suzanne Vega. It is her first album of new material since 2001's Songs in Red and Gray and is also her first for Blue Note Records. It was released on July 17, 2007. Suzanne Vega's seventh album Beauty and Crime develops the theme of New York life, and has its roots in her seminal debut album Tom's Diner. The ingenue of Tom's Diner has grown up and gained a whole lot of sophistication along the way.
