Silver Sea - the new Méav album

Silver Sea is the follow up to Méav’s highly successful debut album. Singing in English, Irish, Gallic and French, Méav brings together a surprising blend of classical, traditional and contemporary tracks that reflect her eclectic musical background. Silver Sea develops the themes of the first album, bringing a new delicacy and intimacy to the sound with more acoustic instruments. All of the songs, whether lyrical love songs, haunting laments or lilting mouth music, are connected to the sea. The tracks range from the pure traditional treatment of “Port na bPucaí” to the richly orchestrated version of Kurt Weill’s “Youkali Tango” and the multi-layered vocal harmonies of Méav’s own composition, “Full Fathom Five”.

The tracks are arranged and performed by a variety of artists with whom Méav has a particular bond, including violinist Máire Breatnach, oboist David Agnew and Kíla brothers Rossa, Colm, and Ronán Ó Snodaigh. The album was co-produced by Méav and Máire, and engineered by Brian Masterson in Pulse Studios in Dublin. It is released in Ireland by Celtic Collections, in Korea by Aulos Music and in Japan by Omagatoki. It will also be available in specialist music stores throughout Europe and America through Celtic Collections.
