約翰·道蘭德（John Dowland，1563 - 1626），英國文藝複興晚期作曲家，歌手，魯特琴演奏家。道蘭德現在被公認為一位偉大的作曲家，盡管生前他隻以演奏魯特琴和歌唱技藝出名。他的歌曲創作被認為對藝術歌曲的發展有推動作用。他的器樂曲集《淚》（Lachrimae, or Seaven Teares）也是十分著名的作品。

John Dowland (1563 - 1626) was an English or possibly Irish[1] Renaissance composer, lutenist, and singer. He is best known today for his melancholy songs such as "Come, heavy sleep", "Come again", "Flow my tears", "I saw my Lady weepe" and "In darkness let me dwell", but his instrumental music has undergone a major revival, and with the 20th century's early music revival, has been a continuing source of repertoire for lutenists and classical guitarists.

This piece is selected as one of RCM (The Royal Conservatory of Music) grade 7 repertoire.
