If you can prove the dentist did not call to cancel your appointment, then you have a breach of contract case. I believe an appointment with doctor is a contract. As we know, we still have to pay the doctor if we miss our appointment. You may ask for compensation for the loss due to the breach of contract. You may check you phone record to see whether the dentist called you or not. The phone record will be a solid evidence to persuade a judge.
