EAD renewal question

Hi
My EAD will expire in August, and I will send renewal application on 07/10/04. I am wondering in my case, can I continue working after I get my current EAD expired in August, if I haven't received the EAD renewal approval? Assuming that I receive the receipt for EAD renewal before my current EAD expires.
