He can get into a top 50 school, likely a top 25 school depending on how his other credentials are. LSAT score, however, is one of the most determinative factors in law school admission.

Read US News Week Law School Ranking and check out individual school's website, which usually gives out admission statitics including average LSAT score and undergraduate GPA.

Most law school tuition now is between $30K-$40K per year, except state schools may charge in-state tuition which can be lower. Law books cost another $500 -$1,000 per year.

As to starting salary after graduation, it all depends on what kind of job he'll get. A big law firm typically pays $100,000+ per year (only students graduating from top law schools and in the top of their class get into big firms). Small-medium size firms normally pay around $70,000 or less. Federal jobs pay much less, e.g., IRS pays about $60,000 and some other agencies pay even less.
