請問有人申請過disability 或者對此有經驗嗎

本人要做開心手術，估計2，3個月不能工作了。朋友叫我去申請disability，可是醫生說會在手術後才給我證明。請問各位，我是可以現在去申請還是要等手術後，如果是手術後，我都不能行動，怎麽去申請呢？ 謝謝大家了。
