(A)一般的情況child support是包括了任何經濟上bare “necessities” for the children. 所以不是說一切的花費都可以包括在這個範圍之中.這就是為什麼法官在child support之外另外加上付加的child expense對方需要負擔50%的花費.

在2005年新澤西的一個判例中,法官認定下列的項目應該包括在 額外的child expense的函蓋範圍之中
a. Medical insurance and unreimbursed expenses;
b. Summer camp;
c. Dental expenses including orthodontic bills;
d. Bar Mitzvah expenses;
e. Annual contributions to a special needs trust; and
f. College expenses
所以如果法院要求您的前夫除了一般的child support之外仍然負擔額外50%的child expense,那麼他可能需要付擔正規的college expense (包括了學費與一切書籍與住宿的開支).請特別注意老貓用的是"可能",因為有許多州,孩子的學費是列入在基本的child support中,(特別是如果您們的離婚協議中有這樣的安排,一般的律師通常應該都會注意到這一點,因為大部份的州child support隻需要負擔到孩子滿18歲,(有一些州到21歲),所以將學費列入到child support中可以卸除自己客戶將來需要負擔高額大學學費的問題.
