Unreasonable lawyer charge. Please advice

A year ago, my ex-wife who had married a white, sued me for child custody from a county family court far from New York city. The first thing I did was to get a lawyer to transfer the case to New York county family court as I had been studying, working and living in New York city since we divorced 8 years ago and I already had new family and my wife just gave birth to a baby.

The experiences with the lawyer was terrible. First she and her assistant left voice messages on my work phone even though I had repeatly emphsized using my personal email and personal phones. The meeting and the phone conversations with my lawyer seemed to give me a feeling that she was taking advantage of my frustrated feeling and my limit knowledge about the case and my limit English language skill. About a week late, a bill arrived with nearly $3,000 which including a lot of research and internet searches hours without showing anything real has been done. I then called several other law firms about the case and the requested quotes were all less than $1,500 for whole case preparations and one court appearing for the change of venue.

So I had to end our contract and call my credit card company to have the charge in dispute. During the dispute the law firm emphsized that they had prepared the financial statement and filed it with the court. But they failed to provide me when I asked about a copy of the prepared financial statement and proof of filing with the court. In fact they didn't prepare the financial statement at all. Other itemized charges including, for example: 1. Working on the attorney affirmation 3 hours at $180/hour. 2. Rearching issues of jurisdiction over the child for child support: 3.5 hours at $180/hour. 3. 0.5 hours at $180/hour for discussing and disputing the charge even though the contract stated that "Time spent in discussion of bills will not be charged"

What my lawyer has done before the end of the contact was: 1. requested a adjourn for the court appearing. 2. Prepare a list of reasons for requesting change of venue.

The problem now is my credit card company don't want the charge in dispute anymore, they put the charge back to my card and want me to resolve the issue with my law firm.

I don't understand legal issues well. Please give me advices. I will provide any information you may need to conside. Thank you very much in advance.
