我在正常開車. This is wrong way to describ your driving condition. You should say something like "I was driving south bound on XXX St. at approximately 35 MPH."

一個老太太過馬路我沒有注意. You gave up yourself right here. Here you should say something like "She suddenly stepped off the side walk and crossing the street from a none-marking intersection. Before I can react, my front bumper hit her ......." Pedistrian has the right of way everywhere. By claiming you have no time to react is better than telling people you are careless driver.

When police said you are ok, that basically telling you that there will be no criminal action against you, suck as reckless driving, DUI etc....

Attorney did was a civil action. It is all about $$$$$. You dont want to look clueless.
