Received a demand letter in email from ex-employer today. It's about cell phone bills.
I left this company last year, was moving to another city. The cell phone bill was paid by company when I was working there. When I left, the manager and I had a verbal agreement that I could continue using the phone until they cancel it, and in return, they might ask me for help on some client issues I had dealt with. It was meant to be for a short time period. But, They forgot to cancel the phone for eight months, and I had been using it to receive calls from friends in old city. Now obviously they try to recover the eight months cost from me and they deny having any permisson to allow me using it, accuse me of theft of service.
What can I do? It's not a big amount, but by just sending them the money, would that mean I admit it is my fault or guity? Help please!
