In most lease agreement, there is a 30 or 60 day move out notice clause. And also automatic renew clause. That is to say, most lease will automatic renew as month by month lease after initial lease expire. Usually the landlord can not evict teneant but can increase rent with 30 or 60 day notice.

Please read the lease carefully. Your lease may have such clause.

Be remember to keep everything in writing, You can mail a letter (or email) the landlord to ask explain why your two thought of payment are different. The landlord must explain to you.
