緊急求助， I was told that there's a lawsuit filed against us, HELP!!

We got letters from 2 different law firms said that there's a lawsuit filed against us.

In the end of the letter it's said " you only have 20 days after the date of the service to formulate and file a response with the court."
Right now we haven't got any mails from the court or such about this case, could any one knows when to start counting the 20 days, we call the court this morning we were told that the case being filed on May 9th, it is May 22nd now, if it means that we only have 7 days to respond?

Right now we haven't got any mails from the court yet, if there's some other way for us to know more detail about this case? It is said in the letter from the lawyer firm that they got to know our name and address though "reviewing the ---county public court records", can we get to such information through internet.

I'm really tired of the legal system here, don't know what to do, we thought the lawyer could helping us taking care of the case, but at last everything went wrong, i wish later i could work in this field helping those people just like me.
