3 qualifications to receive tax rebabe:
1) You/spouse can't be claimed as dependent on another person's return;
2) can't file as nonresident alient (1040-NR)
3) You must have SSN

You can file as singer regardless of your marriage status. The standard deduction and exemption amount should be the same for both filing status.
