How does court send notice? By registered mail?

I didn't pick up a registered mail in time and now it's been returned. I am not sure if it is a court notice. I have not way to check where it was from. Does anyone know how court send out notice? Do they mail it out by registered mail? or they send it by person? Million thanks!
