Last year, I did not pay social security and Medicare tax when I was a F1 student in OPT. Now, my status is H1B. Probably the payroll clerk of my company did not realize my status change. No social security and Medicare tax deduction shows in my pay-slip. As a H1B visa holder, must I pay social security and Medicare tax? If I don't pay, are there any consequence?
Thanks for your help!
