It happens all the time. Just make sure it will not happen again or at less not under the watchfull eyes. If there is no plaintiff there is not going to be a trail. The court acts in the best interest of the family involved. So if the victim feels that it is in the best interest to work it out between themselves and not to bring any charges, the court will listen. And in most cases the court would recomend mediation for first-time offenders. CASE DISMISSED!
(there is just no money there with most DV.)
