In one of the medical forum I've been follow, not wxc, the "rule" they posted states that as long as you are not claiming you are a licensed professional, you will be fine. To be safe, you always have a disclaimer. You always say that you are not necessarily licensed in your state.

In this legal forum, people are smarter -- I havn't see anyone claim s/he is a lawyer. But in the health forum, some guy's name is Dr.-so-and-so which could really be used against him/her.
