H1B status only can be SINGLE status for TAX withdraw?

I am on H1B status. Just got a notice from Human Resources that IRS request them to change all H1B employee's married status to Single for TAX withdraw purpose.
But in my impression, Married file jointly is allowed for H1B, and in fact I got my TAX return through this status this April. Can stp or any other big shot help me to prove that Married status s allowed for H1B? A IRS link wold be really helpful!
