Similar experience with Delta.They said I missed the

45 minutes check in deadline before flight departure time and wouldn't let us check in. The next flight they gave us was too late for our cruise. We had to pay to stay in a hotel and then paid ourselves to fly to another port to catch our ship! Shame on Delta. If they rushes, we would have been able to get on the flight since it was still 40 minutes till departure. Horrible service. Two older ladies had to wait in line until they missed their flights. Other airline passengers told me the airline clerks called people with sooner flights to the front to help them check in. Never book Delta again. They said we had to pay since we booked the flights from our cruise line and it was bulk rate. But it was $480 per person, so I don't think it's cheap. It was from LAX to Honolulu. Also, avoid Lax if you can;
