No, you don't have to pay the attorney the I485 filing fee since you didn't have a contract with the Att with regard the I485 filing. You also filed the I485 by your self.

You should let the attorney know that you will make a complain to the New York Bar Association Commissioner (sth like this kind of organization that oversees the attorneys).
