A few of us funded our school alumni association a few years ago, but didn't finish the process to make it a non-profit organization. we didn't do any tax paperwork, either. We start to receive the tax inquiry from our state tax board and ask for corporation tax and tax penalty.
We don’t have any income and have no bank account at all. Our intention is good, but we lack of corporate law knowledge. Now we are thinking to dissolve this association. We don't have any ways to collect >$2000 for the tax. We are just a group to get in touch and have fun with each other.
We appreciate any advices to help us solve this issue. We have no money to hire a professional for it, either. Thank you very much!!
Alumni association got caught by tax board. HELP!!!
