If you were arrested by police, then your incedent usually has to be charged and go to DA. Don't feel regret it already went to DA, nothing you can do about it. Just prepare afterwards.

Your wife is STUPID, I have to say. And you know nothing about American law and stupid too. It's too sad. Fortunately, you said you wife is on your side now and you two want to survive together. That's the only good thing. So, here is one my suggestion, it does work.

Ask your wife to go to DA's office to see DA. Tell him/her all kinds of your good things -- behavior, thought and caring, to her and you two's family. And tell him/her how she and you love each other, definitely with strong and convincing proofs. Of course if her English is so poor, better ask a good friend with sufficient English to go with her and be a interpretor for her.

Tell DA the stories of you two, loving stories I mean, and how you two rely on and support each other. What your wife's trying to do is she wants to do nothing but impressing him/her. If he/she is really impressed, he/she can drop the case for you.

Right, it's not your wife who press the charge on you. However, she is the victim of your charged incident. So your wife's attitude, words, feeling and needs will definitely be considered. And frankly speaking, this kind of case is nothing to DA. He/she will definitely consider to drop the case if your wife really impress him/her. Tell your wife, now she is the biggest role in your family and she can do something for your family's future.

I understand and sympathize with you, so I give you my suggestion. Before you go to see a lawyer, you can try this way. And if you two are fortunate, you will be fine and the thing will pass by. No matter what, trying to do this first will not hurt you at all.
