Small amount of blood in the urine means your urethra might be infected. It is normal and common situation the urologist treats infection with antibiotics however, some kind of antibiotics have strong side effects to kids so doctors are very careful to give oral doses to kids. Most time the urologist won't give oral antibiotics doses over 2 months.

Pls indicate what kind of antibotics the urologist gave to your son?
