If you meant the amount of Total Tax (Form1040, line 63), then it can be higher or lower to the amount of the Federal Income Tax withheld shown on your W2. The amount shown on your W2 is withheld based on an estimated amount, based on your individual exemption status you chose on your W4 you filed with your employer.
