Can you research to see what the settlement is for people sharing music online and being sued by record company? Your case should even be less severe, I think. Is it a big company? If yes, they sue not for money but warning other people. (If not, LaoMao mentioned negotiating to a settlement might work.) What kind of demage they are for?
As you are sharing free SW, I doubt the judge will grant them huge amount of damage compensation. You really should hire a lawyer; or at least talk to some. Are you an IT person, or can land other relative high-paying jobs? Even you need to spend 100K on this, it won't be the end of the world for you. (Treat it as you loss stock values in dot.com bubble.)
