stp, please advise "claim child as dependent"

孩子是在美國出生的，2006年有十個月送回國內入托，我們有綠卡。根據1040的instruction，孩子需要“Lived with you for more than half of 2006.”，顯然我們不符合這個要求。但instruction又說“If the child did not live with you for the required time, see Exception to time lived with you on page 21.”

在21頁的解釋中說“Temporary absences for special circumstances, such as for school, vacation, medical care, military service, or detention in a juvenile facility, count as time lived with you.”

那麽我們的情況是，孩子在國內入托(算school?)，應該也算和我們在一起，這樣我們可以算他為dependent，我的理解對嗎？
