TIAA-CREF is a very big Financial Ccompany. Overall their reputation is good(if not excellent).Their commission is relative low. I have been there for more than 10 years. Haven't seen your problem before(or I didn't notice it?). In your situation,I do think they owe you an explanation.You can ask them to send a letter to you about it. After that ,you may consider to transfer your account to another company(i.e, Fidelity ect.) if you feel not comfortabl with TIAA-CREF. Also, they have very limited funds to be selected. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!
