my experience

I changed my legal name when I became a US citizen 5 years ago. There were so much work changing all IDs, credit cards, bank records, doctor office records, etc. I regret that I did it.
I would have kept my last name, had I known all the trouble I needed to go through. To this day, I still have records in my old name. I still have to explain my name change and have to show legal name change paper in many situations.
It's not worth it in my opinion.
