Hi, Your Experts and the Experienced:
I got a ticket for going 32 miles in a school zone enforced for 20 miles. In Florida (where I am and got the ticket), speeding fines double for school zone. So, it's almost $300 plus 3 points.
I admit that I made a mistake. But, the mistake was really accidental. I have been driving through that section of road numerously in the past more than two years, but this really was the first time (at least over a long period) when I went through there during the enforced hours. Normally the speed limit there is 30 miles. (What a bad luck!) My driving record is clear for the past more than three years and the last time when I got a speeding ticket was 12 years ago.
So, if I admit the mistake to a judge, ask for his/her mercy and argue that I do not deserve such a harsh punishment based on the following points:
1) The mistake I made was accidental (caught off guard when first time going through a speed zone that is only periodically enforced).
2) I am not at all a real speeder (last time ticketed more than 12 years ago) or not even a bad driver (with more than 3 years clear record).
What are my odds getting the fine and points tossed out?
Thank you very much in advance for any advice.
the Caught_off_Guard
