Letting co-workers know your salary made the situation worse. Your boss could be simply teaching your a lession, expressing his displesure, or taking care of other's complaints. It is of your own interests to act just like other salary employees - salary info is very sensitive even though we know roughly what everyone makes as time goes by.
You may not have any case, if that offer was not in the offer letter. Even if so, your boss can still reduce your salary as he wants and finds many good reasons. My suggestion is you can stick with you current employer, do a good job and let time to take care of the matter. Legal option is not there. Or better yet, find another job. Indian boss has a reputation of bargaining or disliking the behavior of bargaining.
