You do not need go by yourself.

I know there are some people do this business. They collect a lot of passports, and go to extend it for you, and they charge some dollar each passport for that, I remember it is about 20-30 bucks. It is pretty cheap, I think, and especially when the embassy is far from your place.
Go to ckeck some Chinese newspaper, you can find that kind of advertising.
