Hi, We just moved to an apartment within the residence boundary of a good elementary school. We did not have the chance to look at the unit before we moved in.
After we lived in this unit for one week, my hu*****and has developed allergic symptom during the night, his doctor recommended us to cut off all possible allergic sources in the apartment. We move all things in our bed room and use the air filter during the night, my hu*****and still start coughing and sneezing after two or three hours in bed. His allergic symptom appears only when he is at the apartment . We suppose that there are something in the quiet old carpet which cause the allergy. We request the rental office to check their carpet. In their document ,the year of the carpet is 1999, so it a quiet old carpet, but as we ask them to replace new carpet for our unit , they refused and put a question mark on the year of their document, they said they thought that carpet should not be that old and ask us to prove the age of their carpet etc.
We do not want to move out . We know that they did not care our request because there are waiting list for their apartment, but we still have our right as tenant. How could we do to prove the age of their carpet? How could we handle this situation? Is there any suggestion? Thank you in advance.
How could we do about the carpet?
