tax question: mutual fund

Hi:
We bought mutual funds from American Century two years ago. And we sold them out at the end of last year. To fill the tax form, not only we have to pay the dividends, but also the capital gain. I wonder if we are paying the double tax on this.

Am i right? Confused!
