In CA, I don’t think he will file the lien against your house – even he could. First of all, he must have a valid contractor license. Also, if you won the case, which is easily for this case, you are entitled to attorneys' fees up to $2,000.

Suggest you wait and see at this point.
Plus we may learn something from your lesson.
