what is he going to face

A friend of mine just had a car accident because he was drunk after a party in the night of Chinese new year ,his alcohol level is way too higher than the limit .His car hit other's car very badly,himself was also very hurt badly( the other people in the other car were fine ) .Both his car and the other car were all damaged .He was still in hospital after a major surgery.Obviously it was his fault.
Is he going to be put into prison? how long does he have to be in porison? Is there any possibility that he can get away with it? What is he going to face? Anybody has any idea? Any help would be very much appreciated.
