can alimony and child support be adjusted

I have a queston. I appreciate it if anyone can provide some insight.
In last three years before the divorce, the hu*****and earned much more than his wife because his bussiness was doing well. They have been married for many years with a good svaing in the bank. He has to pay for alimony and child support once the divorce finalized although his wife also earned good money from her job. Now his bussiness is slow after the settlement, the net is only half of what previous earning. Do you think the he can go to the court and ask for a reduction of the alimony and child support. Both of them spitted a large asset before their divorce. Can the judge still consider the remaining asset or bank saving as an income resource?
