shoplift was caught at walmart -help!

My daughter ,14 years old ,was caught by walmat security guard when she stole more than 200 CAD things. She was doing this with her friend , "just for fun" according to her. Walmart call the police , The police give each of them a paper asking them to appear at a court for youth justice court. The girl admit they stole when they are caught , also there are vedio record.

will they be convicted? leaving criminal record? Will that affect their apply for the University later? They are really regret for the stupidity.

now the problem is : Should they plea guilty or not on the court? what 's the sequence if they admit? They already admit it to the police. Is a lawyer is necessary ?

Will that affect their future? btw, we are in Vancouver, Canada.
