Most states allow the employment at will, that means employer can fire and lay off people at anytime for any reason, and employee can quit at anytime for any reason. However, employer cannot fire you because of your pregnancy. But, I am suspect that your employer will fire you for the reason of your pregnancy. Your employer might use another reason. If your employment contract was employment at will, then, your probaly can not do anything.
Check your employment contract and also ask the reason for layoff. Sometimes, you can bargan with the employer if you tell them you don't think it legal.
