The most up-to-date information regarding AP Chinese Language and Culture is now available on the AP Chinese course home page on AP Central(r): http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/chinese. The draft version of the AP Chinese Language and Culture Course Deion has just been posted on AP Central.

Please note that the College Board is not a teacher certification or credential-granting institution. If you are interested in teaching Chinese and would like certification for teaching Chinese in the public school system, you should contact the certification/credential agency of the state in which you plan to teach. For example, in New York, you would contact: http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/certificate/index.html. You should also be aware that some private schools do not require state certification. In most cases, future teachers are required to take education courses. Your state's education certification office will provide details depending on your circumstances.

College Board does provide professional development conferences and workshop events for teachers of AP Chinese Language and Culture courses. The dates and locations of our current AP Chinese professional development opportunities have just been posted and are now available on the AP Chinese course home page. Please click on this link (http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/repository/ap05_chin_japa_pdeven_48941.pdf ) to view the professional development workshops available for teachers of Chinese and Japanese. You may also search online at www.collegeboard.com/meetings for all AP Chinese events near you using the Institutes and Workshops tool. Online registration is available. Please note that space is limited for all events, so it's best to register early.

Participation in an AP workshop or summer institute does not in any way confer state teacher certification. AP professional development events are intended to provide intensive subject-specific training on the content and methods of teaching AP courses, and they serve as a forum for exchanging ideas about AP. They do not take the place of state teacher certification or credentialing.

The College Board does not hire AP teachers directly. AP teachers are hired at the local level, by individual schools or school districts. As such, teachers interested in teaching Chinese or an AP Chinese course should contact their local school district for job openings.

There are two main Chinese language teaching associations: Chinese Language Teachers Association (http://clta.osu.edu/) and the Chinese Language Association of Secondary-Elementary Schools- CLASS (http://www.classk12.org/). Both websites includes job listings.

Your contact information will be added to our email distribution list. We send regular email updates via apchinese@collegeboard.org. If you would not like to be added to this list, please write us.
