You can add these things up and talk to them to see whether they are willing to pay for them. Chances are, they will pay for existing expenses not future ones. Although release is not within statute of frauds, I would still recommend you sign a paper with them. Actually they will ask you to sign a paper to give up rights for future legal actions. Make sure your son does not have other hidden problems. Once you sign the form you probably can not sue them anymore.
