把Comcast的電話modem弄丟了,竟要我賠$500,還有天理嗎?!

我在美國東部, 用comcast電話一年. 在開始服務之前, comcast來人給安上了一個大白盒子, 就是電話modem, 當時我roommate在家, 我不在, 所以我沒有簽任何文件. 但是那個服務我申請的, 所以是在我名下的. 一年後, 我在搬家前給comcast打電話要求停止服務, 對方沒有告訴我需要還那個盒子. 因為沒有要還盒子的概念, 所以在搬家的時候我就忘了把盒子一起帶走. 兩個月以後, 討債公司找上門來, 說那個盒子值$500, 不還就要破壞我的信用記錄. 我給以前住的公寓管理人員打電話, 對方說他們已經把那盒子扔了. 我又給Comcast打電話, 他們也毫不通融.

這個經曆讓我有受騙上當的感覺, 雖然我的粗心是一部分原因, 但是Comcast也確實沒有給我足夠多的機會去避免這種事情發生. 另外我本人並沒有看到那個協議, 更沒有簽什麽協議. 我原來以為在美國的公司都比較誠信, 沒想到天下烏鴉一般黑, 美國的陷阱更厲害. 以後打死我也不再用Comcast的了. 想問問各位有沒有什麽建議?
