If you got HOA approval before you paint outside of your house, you don't need to worry. But if not, there will be some trouble. Your neighbor has the right to complain and HOA has the right to ask you undo it. If you don't undo it, HOA can hire a person to do it and charge you money. If you don't pay, HOA can put a line on your house and finally take your house away. I know that people don't read HOA document when they bought their house. Neither did I. But you have to realize the power of HOA. So when you deal with HOA, always pay first and argue later, otherwise all the late fees and interest will packup and become overhead for you. We live in America, we learn the rules. There shouldn't be any emotion involved. If you are not sure, get the HOA document out from your draw and read it.
