check the definition of resident for tax purpose.

Tax problem is way too complicate. No one else can help you. You should read the publications very carefully. If you don't understand, you may go to your local IRS office. Usually, they should have free consultants. Trust me. Most likely, for complicate questions, different people will give you different answer.
